A UNIQUE THEATRE COMPANY
Class Act is a unique theatre training ground. What sets us apart is that we present new premiere drama - brand new full length plays covering strong or factual drama. Many of our students have gone on to theatre schools and colleges around the country, including LIPA, Guildhall, Mountview, Arts Educational, Laines Theatre Arts and many more. Our students have appeared in films, on television and in the professional theatre.
Playwright and company Principal David Wrightam supervises all classes which cater for a wide age range.
Students between the ages of 11 and 21 attend a choice of three classes on Saturday:
10am - 12 noon
12 noon - 2pm
2.15pm - 4.15pm
There is a new class for 7-10 years and that takes place on a Friday 5pm - 6.30pm
All classes are mixed ages. Class Acts boasts a large number of male students between 14 and 22 years of age, which enables us to present adventurous drama which raises the standard of amateur theatre in this part of the country.
We also have a thriving Adult Class on Wednesday evening and a Dance Class on Tuesday evenings, for Adults and Novices. You will find more details on the site.
Since its award-winning first production of Whistle Down The Wind, the company has pushed out the barriers, often venturing into ground breaking theatre. Attention to the smallest detail in presentation, costume, props and setting have built a reputation second to none in the area.
Please take time to browse our site and see the productions we have presented and how the Class Act Family operates. Students enjoy a relaxed family atmosphere, but within a disciplined theatre environment. We work very hard, but never a class goes by without some serious laughter.
We also have great social events and fund raising nights, details of which are on this site.
Many strong friendships have been formed at Class Act, and everyone watches out for each other no matter what age. We are immensely proud of our achievements, and students now get involved in set building, lighting, sound and publicity.
We hope to have our own building to house our theatre school and also promote other clubs and societies to use its facilities. This adventurous project is overseen by The Class Act Charitable Trust. You can get further information on the trust from this site.
Please feel free to contact us if you need more information. You can contact us via this site, or by ringing 01472 882983.
